Gong Yoo was born as Gong Ji-Cheol on July 10, 1979. He is a South Korean actor and Model. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in theater at Kyung Hee University and worked as a model before entering show business as a video jockey with Mnet.
Thereafter, he had several supporting roles in various Korean films and dramas before landing his first leading role with Hello My Teacher (2005), Coffee Prince (2007) and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin)(2016–2017), and the films Silenced (2011), Train to Busan (2016) and The Age of Shadows (2016).
Since then, he has secured his position as one of the most internationally recognizable actors working in the South Korean entertainment industry today. He has hosted game shows, made appearances on music videos, and won multiple awards.
At the height of his career, he was enlisted for the mandatory military service in 2008. He returned to the industry almost two years later and initially had to struggle to regain his footing. In the last two years, however, his career has seen a massive resurgence.

Guardian: The Lonely and Great God(Goblin) is a South Korean television series starring Gong Yoo in the title role with Kim Go-Eun, Lee Dong-Wook, Yoo In-na, and Yook Sung-Jae. It was shown on the cable network tvN from December 2, 2016, to January 21, 2017.
Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is a goblin and protector of souls. He is the landlord of the grim reaper (Lee Dong-Wook), who is in charge of taking deceased souls. Wanting to end his immortal life, Shin has been looking for his human bride, the only person who can end his life.
