Grant Aleksander Actor Career

Grant is a renowned actor who mostly ventured in daytime dramas (soap operas) throughout his acting career. He played dastardly “DJ Phillips” in the 1986 season Capitol. Aleksander also starred as Alec McIntyre on All My Children between 1993 and 1996, however, he is widely famous for his role as Phillip Spaulding in the soap opera Guiding Light where he starred for almost 30 years.

However, he first starred in Guiding Light between 1982 and 1984 after which his role was taken up by American actor John Bolger. Grant rejoined the cast of Guiding Light in the late 1986 but left in 1991 due to the loss of his parents in the 1990s and general lethargy from being front-burner five days a week for five years. Despite his concerns, he rejoined the cast in April 1996.

The Guiding Light production management announced that they were letting go of Aleksander in 2004 which gave rise to numerous speculations from fans and the media in general. Some of the reasons were Grant’s high salary, his hot-tempered nature, and occupational feud with the actress who portrayed his love interest. Furthermore, his character Phillip Spaulding appeared to be murdered in 2004 but was discovered to be alive in a later episode in 2005.

Aleksander reprised his role as Phillip Spaulding on Feb 9, 2009, which he played until the end of Guiding Light in 2009. He also starred as a bartender at “Mickey’s Bar” in the film Tough Guys. Aleksander also featured in The Big Bad Swim and the American Civil War film Fields of Freedom in 2006. Aleksander also starred in A Very Delicate Matter, Dark Mansions, and Mrs. Warren’s Profession.
