Greg Davies Biography
Greg Davies (born: Gregory Daniel Davies) is a British stand-up comedian and actor. He performed on the Live at the Apollo series. Davis is best known for his roles as Greg in We Are Klang, Mr. Gilbert in The Inbetweeners, Ken Thompson in Cuckoo, as the Taskmaster in Taskmaster, and Man Downplaying Dan Davies, as well as for guest appearances on Mock the Week, Would I Lie to You? and Fast and Loose.
Before embarking on a career in comedy, Davies taught secondary school Drama and English for 13 years at Langleywood School in Slough; Orleans Park School in Twickenham; and Sandhurst School in Sandhurst.

He played a caricature of cricketer W. G. Grace in a series of adverts for Channel 4’s television coverage of The Ashes in 2005.

His first solo stand-up show Firing Cheeseballs at a Dog was nominated for the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Festival in 2010. It was finally taken on his first-ever tour the following autumn. Davies was also nominated for the Edinburgh Fringe’s Malcolm Hardee “Act Most Likely to Make a Million Quid” Award.
Greg starred in Channel 4’s sitcom Man Down, like Dan, a man who hates his job as a teacher, with Rik Mayall as his father from October 2013. The Channel 4 commissioned an additional 25-minute Christmas special before the first series aired. A second series was announced during Davies’s live tour “The Back of My Mum’s Head”, although this was before Rik Mayall’s death in June 2014.
Greg met with Channel 4 to discuss the future of the show following Mayall’s death. Rik had been intended to have a

Greg Davies Taskmaster
He has been the host of the Dave show Taskmaster since July 2015. Davies starred in BBC Two’s comedy-drama A Gert Lush Christmas in December 2015. He played Tony, the uncle of Russell and Kerry Howard’s characters. On Christmas day, Davies played King Hydroflax in the 2015 Doctor Who Special “The Husbands of River Song”
He recorded a Netflix Special at Hammersmith Apollo during his Magnificent Beast UK tour in November 2017.
Greg Davies We Are Klang
Davies was a cast member on the comedy sketch show We Are Klang. It was a TV version of the comedy antics of a three-piece comedy sketch group of the same name. It consisted of comedians Steve Hall, Marek Larwood and Greg Davies himself. Their brand of comedy was noted for being anarchic and frequently rude.
It earned them a Spirit of the Fringe award at the 2004 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show. Greg casts as Deputy Mayor of Klangbury.

Davies has a recurring character as Mr. Gilbert in the British coming-of-age sitcom television series The Inbetweeners. Gilbert is an archetypal comprehensive school teacher. His is Misanthropic and permanently bitter, he has no interest in his work and treats his pupils with utter contempt. Being the head of the sixth form, he answers to the headmaster of the school.
Gilbert is very tall and strongly built, which everyone finds quite intimidating, being described by Will as a “lunatic giant”. He also has a biting wit and sarcasm, which he then uses to convey his hatred of his job and the children for whose care he is responsible.
His attempts to endear himself often with Mr. Gilbert and is rebuffed.

In the British sitcom Cuckoo, Greg stars alongside Andy Samberg, Taylor Lautner, Andie MacDowell, Tamla Kari, Esther Smith, Tyger Drew-Honey, Helen Baxendale, Matt Lacey, and Kenneth Collard. Cuckoo’s launch became BBC Three’s most-watched comedy launch, beating the record set by Bad Education had debuted the previous month.
For his work in the series, Davies was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme. T the British Comedy Awards, Greg was nominated for Best TV Comedy Actor.
