Barchok is the governor of Bomet County, following the August 9, 2022, general election. Governor Barchok defended his seat on the UDA ticket, while Isaac Ruto was contesting on the Chama cha Mashinani party. Barchok was declared the winner with 158,798 votes and defeated Isaac Rutto who got 137,323 votes.
