Ian Watkins Lostprophets
As teenagers in 1991, Lewis and Watkins established a group named Aftermath, a thrash metal band that played in a shed in Watkins’s garden. He was introduced to his future bandmate Lee Gaze while he spend time in the local Ynysangharad Park, the same park where Lostprophets would headline the Full Ponty festival 17 years later.
In its lifespan of 2 years, Aftermath had made two live appearances. Together with Gaze, he chose to form a new band called Fleshbind; a band based on their American hardcore punk influences.
This band played several shows in London but sadly it was short-lived. He reunited with Mike Lewis as a drummer in a hardcore band named Public Disturbance in 1995.
At the same time, David and Gaze had left Fleshbind to create their own band called Lostprophets who appeared life in May 1997 together with Public Disturbance with Watkins as the lead vocalist. Watkins left Public Disturbance to concentrate on the newly named Lostprophets in 1998.
