    Jack Blades Early Career Experiences

    Jack Blades began his musical career in 1975 when he moved to San Francisco and formed the band Rubicon with Jerry Martini and Brad Gillis. Rubicon was a funk band that recorded two albums on 20th Century Fox Records – Rubicon, and American Dreams. They had a hit single with “I’m Gonna Take Care of Everything” in 1978.

    However, the band broke up in 1979 due to creative differences and a lack of commercial success. Blades then joined forces with Gillis, Kelly Keagy, and Jeff Watson to form Night Ranger, a hard rock band that became popular in the 1980s with songs like “Sister Christian”, “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”, and “(You Can Still) Rock in America”.

    Night Ranger sold more than 17 million albums worldwide and toured with bands like ZZ Top, Foreigner, and Journey. In 1989, Blades formed a supergroup called Damn Yankees with Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw, and Michael Cartellone. Damn Yankees released two albums – Damn Yankees and Don’t Tread – that sold more than five million copies combined and spawned hits like “High Enough”, “Coming of Age”, and “Where You Goin’ Now”.
