James May Biography
James May born James Daniel May, is an English television presenter and journalist. He was born on 16 January 1963 in Bristol, England.
He is best known as a co-presenter of the motoring programme Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond from 2003 until 2015. As of 2016 he is a director of the production company W. Chump & Sons and is also a co-presenter in the television series The Grand Tour for Amazon Video, alongside his former Top Gear colleagues, Clarkson and Hammond, as well as former producer Andy Wilman.
May has presented other programmes on themes including science and technology, toys, wine culture, and the plight of manliness in modern times. He wrote a weekly column for The Daily Telegraph’s motoring section from 2003 to 2011.

James May reportedly alarmed neighbours with his plans to demolish his west London home in order to build a more luxurious house instead.
According to plans filed last month, May, 53, will knock down the house he bought for £325,000 in 2000 and combine it with a semi-derelict property next door, which he paid £310,000 for five years ago.
The new home, which is in a conservation area, is set to be six per cent larger than May’s existing property, with an extra floor on the two side wings, prompting worried from neighbours that his house will compromise their privacy.
In a letter to the council, May wrote: “Two neighbours raised issued regarding overlooking and fenestration.”
And to appease locals, he held a consultation meeting before Christmas to finalise his designs.
According to his architect, Mays plans “should cause no major effect on daylight and sunlight for the neighbouring properties” and casts “no extra shadow”.
May’s house-building ambitions previously reached headlines in 2009 when his Lego house – consisting of 3.3million Lego bricks – was knocked down after no one showed any interest in taking on the building.

The Grand Tour’s executive producer has opened up about Richard Hammond’s car accident, revealing that his co-presenters thought he was dead when they saw the aftermath of the incident.
Richard was airlifted to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured knee, after the smash, which took place in Switzerland on Saturday (10 June).
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, executive producer Andy Wilman has revealed what happened in the moments immediately after the incident.
He said: “Jeremy and James both raced down to the scene of the crash as soon as it happened. When they saw the wreckage on fire they thought Richard was dead. It was really bad.
“They were staggered he had got out of it alive, because there was just nothing left. Everyone is so relieved. If Richard had been a few seconds slower getting out, he would have been incinerated.”
Andy added that he’s spoken to Richard, who “is being kept in for observation by the doctors”.
“All he said about his injuries was that his knee hurt a lot, which I’m not surprised about as it now has bolts in it and it is fractured,” he said. “His only worry was about letting his wife and family know he was OK.
“He has been very lucky – it’s a miracle really and certainly another one of his lives gone!”
Footage of the incident showed the car being engulfed in flames after flipping at speed, but Richard was able to climb out of the car by himself before the fire overwhelmed the car.
