Jarvis Landry Aaron Williams
Late in the 2016 season, Jarvis blocked Bills’ safety Aaron Williams and it knocked him out. That day turned out to be William’s final play in his career. Williams announced his retirement on January 30, 2018, due to a history of neck and head injuries.
On The Players tribune, William said he’d forgiven Jarvis. Here is what he wrote, “You want to know my honest opinion about the hit? “I felt like it was unnecessary. He didn’t have to hit me in the chin like he did.”
“But you know what? I remember when I was a little kid, I used to watch that segment they had on ESPN with all the big hits–Jacked Up! or whatever it was called… I used to replay those hits on YouTube like crazy. And a lot of those hits were like the one Landry laid on me. So I can’t be a hypocrite. I glorified that kind of hit myself growing up. Football’s a violent game. I got no ill will towards Landry.”
Right after hitting him, cameras showed Jarvis apologizing to Williams as he left the field and he was genuinely contrite after the game. Williams retired at the age of 27.
Jarvis Landry Juice
Landry picked the nickname Juice when he was still a Sophomore at LSU. He was given the nickname former teammate, Josh Dworaczyk. Speaking about Josh and the nickname, Landry said, “He (Josh) always told me ‘Bro, you give me the energy, you make me want to come out here and play….You love what you do.’
“He called that juice. It just kind of got trendy. My junior year comes, I have a successful season. The crowd catches onto it, and it’s just one of those things that’s been with me, and I understand I have shoes to fill. At the same time I think that it’s in good hands;” Landry Told Brian Cole of the Dolphins official website.
