Jason Dunning is an American Broadcast meteorologist who works as the meteorologist at NBC2 News TODAY, Southwest Florida’s #1 rated morning news.
Before joining the NBC2 team, he served as the morning and noon meteorologist at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi. He is a native of Florida who grew up in Palatka, a tiny town in northeast Florida near the St. Johann River. At a very young age, Dunning enjoyed the weather. When Dunning was in middle school, Jason borrowed a video camera from his mother to tape his own weather segments, including hand-drawn charts and weather channel screenshots.
After collaborating with a few other neighborhood kids to record news and sports, Dunning would deliver several copies of the Neighborhood New to every house on the block.
Dunning’s love for broadcasting and meteorology led him to the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication. In the morning and noon at the WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi, before returning to Florida.
