Jhené Aiko Biography
Jhené Aiko is an American singer and songwriter. She started as a vocalist for the B2K, an RnB boy group in the late 90s and early 2000s. She was marketed as the cousin to one of the B2K boys, Lil’ Fizz, which was not true. However, this rumor brought her to the limelight as it was geared to generating a buzz for her 2003 planned debut album titled “My Name is Jhené”. This album was unfortunately not released as she terminated her contract with her record label, Sony, and opted to further her education.
She started music and vocals at an early age of four and was later drawn to the full interest of music by her elder sisters, Jamila, and Miyoko who were already doing well in an RnB musical group called, ‘Gyrl’. It was through her sisters that she was able to meet Chris Stokes, the then producer of the group and age five and by the time she was seven, Jhené had written a good number of rap songs.

Jhené has been in a number of relationships ever since she became renown in her music career. In 2005, she began dating O’Ryan, a prolific RnB singer where they had a daughter, Namiko Love on the 19th November 2008. However, they broke up the same year their daughter was born. They still became good friends and took turns in co-parenting. A major tragedy struck them on 27 August 2013 when they were involved in a fatal road accident. On board was she, Namiko, baby-daddy and her elder sister, Miyoko. Lucky enough no lives were lost and she was the only who sustained a broken wrist.
On 16th March 2016, it was brought to air that she got married in secret to her husband Oladipo Omishore alias, “Dot da Genius”. The couple started dating in 2015 but unfortunately, the relationship didn’t last long as Jhené filed for divorce quoting irreconcilable marriage differences. The marriage was finally dismissed in October 2017. Currently, she is dating Big Sean after the break with her husband, Oladipo.

Jhené was born of mixed heritage. Her father, Karamo Chilombo, is of an African American Native and a Jewish and German descent while her mother, Christina Yamamoto, has a mixture of Japanese, Dominican, and Spanish Heritage. She has four siblings; two sisters, Jamila Akiko Mila Chilombo and Miyoko Chilombo, and two brothers, Miyagi Hasani Ayo Chilombo and Jahi Chilombo. Her brother Hasani died on 19th April 2012 after severe ailment to cancer. However, Aiko has three other step-siblings from the side of her father. They are; Dio Chilombo, Kareena Chilombo, and Marcia Chilombo.

Jhene Aiko was raised in a family with a musical background. Her elder sisters Jamila and Miyoko had already started their musical careers once Jhene was a bit small. Jhene herself became a section of the band B2K and signed with Epic Music at the age of twelve. She became part of the B2K’s debut video album ‘Uh Huh’ in 2002, that won the ‘BET Award for Viewer’s Choice’.
In 2003, she tried to launch her debut musical album, ‘My Name is Jhene’ through Sony, the last word cluster, and Epic. However, because of some variations with Epic Music, she had to drop her venture. therefore she retired from Epic so as to pursue her education.
After finishing her studies, she once more came back to music in 2011 by releasing her 1st mixtape ‘Sailing Soul(s)’, that featured artists like Drake, Kayne West, and Miguel.
From then on, there was no wanting back for Jhene. The following year, Yankee Hip-Hop and R&B record producer Ernest Dion Wilson a.k.a. No I.D. signed Jhene with Artium record imprints through Def Jam.
In 2013, she released her 1st EP ‘Sail Out’, that reached the No.1 spot on the R&B chart. The following year, in March, she joined rapper Big Sean for a collaboration album titled ‘ Twenty88’.
In 2016, she released her single ‘Maniac’ from her new coming album set to be released in 2017. She appeared in 6LACK’s new tempting unleash ‘First F*ck’ in February 2017. Her Follow up album, “Trip” was released in 2017
She proclaimed that she has worked hard from a previous couple of years on her new project slated to unleash in 2017. The coming album can feature a replacement genre of music now, terribly completely different from its predecessors’ designs.
