He started playing basketball at an early age. While attending Cave Spring High School, he was a McDonald’s All-American. He won the MVP at the 2002 McDonald’s All-American Game MVP. Scout.com considered him a five-star recruit. In 2002, he was highly recruited in addition to being listed as the No. 2 shooting guard and the No. 13 player in the nation.
