Joel Houston ( Joel Timothy Houston) is an Australian musician, songwriter, director, pastor, and worship leader in the Sydney-based band Hillsong United, a worship band of Hillsong Church. He is a Creative Director for Hillsong Church globally and he currently lives in New York City, where he is helping to build Hillsong NYC.
Joel is the oldest son of the church’s Senior Pastors and founders Brian and Bobbie Houston. He has two siblings, a brother Benjamin Houston and a sister, Laura Toggs Houston. Ben is the lead pastor of Hillsong Los Angeles while Laura is the pastor of the Hillsong youth ministry in Australia and also a member of Hillsong Young & Free. When he was 7 years old, he wanted to play the piano but his parents discouraged him saying that he was not good.

Houston’s first debut with the Hillsong United as a vocalist was in 2002, he had been playing low register guitar with the band for quite a long while preceding this, and contributing different melodies, including the title track from the gathering’s presentation full-length live collection, Every day. As part of the Hillsong United music group, he has helped lead love meetings in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. He has likewise added to the primary Hillsong collection accounts too, which are driven by love minister Reuben Morgan.
A considerable lot of the melodies he has composed or co-composed are sung in holy places worldwide and have been converted into 32 dialects. His music has been highlighted on Hillsong collections that have immediately ascended on both the Australian and American Christian music diagrams.
