Joel began his career after his love of music and after having been encouraged by his grandfather who was also a musician to pursue the dream. The two even performed together. At the auditions for La Banda began, his mother heard it on radio and told him, where he decided to give it a try.
After the first season of the competition which sought to get talented teenagers and make them into musical stars, he together with Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Zabdiel de Jesús, and Christopher Vélez emerged as winners and part of the CNCO band in 2015.
The band was later offered a five-year deal with Sony Music Latin, seeing to the release of its first album Primera Cita in 2016 followed by CNCO in 2018. Both the albums topped the US Latin Album Billboard and the Argentine billboard.
