John started his career in 1968 when he published his first book ‘Setting Free the Bears’, during the time when was teaching at the University of Iowa, the novel was well received and also his second and second and third, The Water-Method Man 1972 and The 158-Pound Marriage 1974, Irving gained his popularity with his fort novel ‘The World According to Garp’ after he published it in 1978.
