John Kruk is an American one time professional outfielder and baseball first baseman. Currently, he works at NBC Sports in Philadelphia as a color commentator for Phillies’ games. Previously, Kruk played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox, San Diego Padres, and Philadelphia Phillies from 1986 to 1995.
During his career, Kruk was a three-time Major League Baseball All-Star. After retiring as a baseball player, he became a baseball analyst for ESPN.

Kruk was born to his father, Francis J. Moe Kruk Jr., and his mother, Sarah O. “Lena” Kruk, on February 9, 1961, in Charleston, West Virginia, United States. He grew up alongside his three siblings in Keyser, West Virginia.

Illness
In 1994, Kruk was diagnosed with testicular cancer. During a routine physical examination, he found a lump in his groin, which led to the surgical removal of one of his testicles.
