‘I’M VERY GOOD’ Jordi Alba ends Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United’s hopes of signing him and vows to stay at Barcelona
Updated: June 2018
JORDI ALBA has ended Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea’s hopes of signing him by vowing to stay at Barcelona for life. The left-back, 29, has been at the Nou Camp for six seasons and won a host of honours.
However, he was been heavily linked with a move to Spurs this summer with the Red Devils and Blues also keen on the Spanish international full-back. But any prospect of the Premier League trio luring him to England has been dashed by Alba.
The star, currently on World Cup duty with La Roja, told a news conference after being quizzed on whether the interest was affecting him: “No, no, I’m very good at Barca.
“If it were up to me, I would stay at Barcelona all my life. Tottenham were leading the chase for the left-back with Man United and Chelsea also keen. Alba has declared his intention to stay at Barcelona for the rest of his career
“But it does not depend on me but on what the club wants. “It also depends on my performance, which this season has been very good, but I do not see myself outside of Barcelona.”
Alba helped Barcelona to win the Champions League in 2015 and has also lifted the La Liga title four times during his time at the club. He helped his country to victory over Iran on Wednesday night and also started their first World Cup group match against Portugal. The ace is likely to start again for Spain against Morocco on Monday.
