Zekman started working at WBBM in 1981, and she was responsible for investigating Medicare fraud, dangerous cab and bus drivers, tax fraud, and government waste, among many other issues.
Moreover, Zekman was among approximately 12 anchors, reporters, and other employees displaced by the local CBS television affiliate WBBM. Other dismissals included reporters Mike Puccinelli and Mai Martinez, news anchor Erin Kennedy, sports anchor Megan Mawicke, and meteorologist Megan Glaros.
