She has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards and three Tony Awards.
In 1818, the legendary Old Vic theatre first opened its doors and this year celebrates 200 years of creative adventure.
In honour of this momentous anniversary, Royal Mail has issued a set of special commemorative stamps to celebrate the powerful performances from actors who once graced the main stage. From Dame Judi Dench in the 1960s to former MP Glenda Jackson more recently, the stamps take us back to significant moments that the Old Vic’s stage has felt.
When the Italian paparazzi descended on Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in 1962, Sybil Burton decamped to Manhattan. Living near Central Park, surrounded by family friends, young Kate enjoyed “a fabled, but not tumultuous” childhood.
