Kathleen Sullivan is an American television journalist. She was hired as CNN anchor in 1980 by former president Reese Schonfeld. Her work has been involved in nearly every area of broadcasting. For more than ten years, Kathleen was a news anchor, working at CNN, ABC News and CBS News. She is a blogger for The Huffington Post.

Kathleen received an Emmy nomination for Best Sportscaster as the first woman and also received two Emmy nominations for her work as anchor of E! Entertainment’s E! News Daily, which she hosted after anchoring full-time coverage of the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial.

She has been nominated for Emmy Awards in news, sports and entertainment.

In 1980, along with 12 men and Ted Turner’s money, she helped create the Cable News Network. After co-hosting “Good Morning America”, “World News This Morning” and “ABC World News Tonight Saturday” for ABC, she moved to CBS News to anchor “CBS This Morning.”

Kathleen was the first woman to host the Olympics, to broadcast live from the Soviet Union and to interview the cosmonauts. She was the only American journalist invited by President and Mrs. Reagan to the 1987 White House State Dinner honoring Mikhail Gorbachev and celebrating the end of the Cold War.

While at ABC she created the first network health show and was host of two syndicated health shows in the 1980s. She also worked to fight the stigma surrounding mental illness. She sits on the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration) Advisory Council, to which she was appointed by the White House in January 2003.

Kathleen anchored the 1992 Summer Olympics, held in Barcelona, for NBC’s pay-per-view Olympics Triplecast.
