Adelaide Khalwale Biography
Adelaide Shikhanga Khalwale was the first wife of Bony Khalwale a Kenyan Politician and former senator of Kakamega County. Adelaide was the secretary at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega.
Adelaide Khalwale, who was battling cancer, died at their Malinya residence in Ikolomani, Kakamega county. Her body has been taken to Mukumu Hospital morgue. She was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2003. and this year, Adelaide developed blood cancer but went through the treatment and was declared cancer-free.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale (pictured) has lost his wife. In a Facebook post earlier today, Khalwale said “A sad morning, death has just robbed [me of] my first wife”.Adelaide Khalwale, who was battling cancer, died at their Malinya home in Ikolomani, Kakamega county. Her body has been taken to Mukumu Hospital morgue. She was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2003. This year, Adelaide developed blood cancer but went through the treatment and was declared cancer-free.
Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya also condoled with the Khalwale family saying, “On behalf of my family and the entire Kakamega County, I send my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of the late Adelaide and pray to God to give them the strength to bear her tragic loss.”
Khalwale’s predecessor Cleophas Malala said, “I have learned with the deepest sorrow the passing on of Mama Adelaide Khalwale, wife of former Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale. Accept my heartfelt condolences, that of my family and that of the great people of Kakamega County. Pole Sana ndugu.”
However, she died from pulmonary hypertension, which Khalwale said developed a week ago.”She just stopped breathing,” the former senator said. He went on, “As a cancer patient, we knew she was not very far from death, but we didn’t know she would die now from pulmonary hypertension.”Residents and local politicians were earlier in the day streaming into the politician’s home to console him over his first wife’s death.
Leaders have sent in their messages of condolence including Deputy President William Ruto.
He remembered her as a generous and kind woman.
