Amani Mara Camp
The Swahili word Amani derives from the Arabic, meaning peace, desires, wishes and aspirations. The name represents the atmosphere of the camp and its eco-friendly nature. Set on a hillside, Amani Mara has wonderful views across the Mara plains. Prior to refurbishment, the camp was called Oloiren.
There are 5 en—suite double rooms and 4 en-suite twin rooms. There is also a family suite, with double room, twin room, lounge and fireplace.
All rooms are built of stone, canvas and hessian, in an eco-friendly construction. The double rooms have outside baths with views. The lounge has a deck with sweeping views, a collection of books and a fireplace.
The chef provides both local and international dishes. The swimming pool is surrounded by wilderness.
Activities include game drives and guided walks. Amani Mara works with local communities to minimise the impact of tourism on the environment and improve the facilities and resources available. Current projects include providing water filters to Maasai villages and assisting the set up of a medical dispensary. Environmental projects include a waste water management project. Amani Mara is located in Olare Orok Conservancy on the the banks of the Ntiakntiak River, 5km northeast of the Mzlzmi Mara National Reserve.
