Perched on a ridge amongst indigenous euclea and croton bushes, Basecamp Wilderness gives stunning views over the plains of the Naboisho Conservancy. Basecamp Wilderness is owned and managed by Base camp, a luxury eco-friendly camp near Talek Gate. Basecamp Foundation supports and cooperates with local communities, as well as developing and promoting Basecamp’s sustainable tourism concept.
There are 5 en-suite safari cottages, 2 facing west towards the sunset and 3 facing east towards the sunrise. The cottages have kitchenette, canvas doors, net windows, internet connection and large verandas with sofas and sunbeds from which to enjoy the views. They are elegantly designed in cream and ochre, and adorned with natural fabrics and Maasai ornaments. 2 of the cottages are suitable for guests with disabilities.
The open sided restaurant serves international dishes. The lounge has a fully stocked bar and lovely views. Activities include day and night game drives, game walks and cultural visits to local Maasai villages. Bush meals and sundowners can be arranged. Cultural talks from local Maasai on their traditions and lifestyle are available. Basecamp holds a gold award from Ecotourisrn Society of Kenya, and has won the WTM First Choice Responsible Tourism Award, SKAL international Ecotourism Award and Tl ES Ecotourism Innovation Award.
