Hussein Dado Biography
Hussein Dado is a Kenyan politician and governor of Tana River County . He is a member of Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya and a coalition member of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD). His deputy governor is Jire Siyat Mohamed.
The Tana River Delta has been troubled by frequent spates of ethnic violence, often hitting the international press and culminating in the closing months of 2012 where over 100 people were killed. Divisions remain between the Pokomo agriculturalists and the Orma semi-nomadic cattle herders, particularly over access to land for farming or cattle grazing, as well as access to water. To help breach divisions between communities, Governor Dado nominated a diverse membership to the county’s 10-member cabinet.

Hussein Dado Grilled on purchase of Ksh 35 Million vehicle
Tana River Governor Hussein Dado was quizzed by anti-corruption commission detectives over the purchase of an armored vehicle that was a second- hand Hummer he bought at Sh35 million. The detectives wanted to know whether the governor breached any procurement rules in the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle is registered under the governor’s name.
Tana River county has been under scrutiny lately over wasteful spending. In the last financial year, the county government spent Sh242.5 million on domestic and foreign travel, which accounted for 54 percent of the annual operation and maintenance expenditure. This was nearly four times more than the Sh67 million it had spent on domestic and foreign travel in the previous financial year. Of the money, the county executive used Sh195 million on travel and allowances.
Supremacy battle between Garsen MP Ibrahim Sane and Tana River County Governor Hussein Dado
After a report ranked Tana River county as second best in development expenditure by 59 percent, Garsen MP Ibrahim Sane rubbished the report and termed it as baseless and a product of media fabrication.
Sane said it is unfortunate that the Tana River County government under the leadership of Governor Dado has failed the people of Tana River. He said that despite the disasters ranging from floods, hunger and conflicts in the region; the county government has done nothing to alleviate the suffering of its citizens.
