Richard’s Private Camp
Richard’s Private Camp is on the banks of the Niageteck River just below Klipspringer Gorge and next to Ngoyanai Springs. This permanent water around the camp ensures that there is plenty of game, including a pride of lions often seen on the hill in front of the camp.
There are 5 custom-designed tents with outdoor en—suite bathrooms. The camp is always booked on a fully exclusive basis and groups are never mixed. A minimum of 5 guests is required, and the camp can accommodate a maximum of 1O. The camp was elegantly refurbished in 2011.
The camp retains the charm of a bush camp, while also providing comfortable accommodation, modern plumbing and elegant decor. Lighting is by candies and lamps. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served safari style at the dining table in the oval mess tent with a striking view.
The camp’s owner, Richard Roberts, personally guides guests at this camp. Brought up in the Mara from the age of 11, Richard has a broad knowledge of the indigenous mammals and birds and the Mara ecosystem.
The camp is in the Olare Orok Conservancy, a short distance from the Maasai Mara National Reserve, and supports the projects of this conservancy as well as other Mara conservation projects.
