After graduating, Kimberly fleetingly worked as a prosecutor in San Francisco, but in 1996 she lost her job when Terence Hallinan was elected District Attorney and fired 14 of the city’s prosecutors.
Guilfoyle then served four years in Los Angeles as a Deputy District Attorney, she worked on adult and juvenile cases, and her work also covered sexual assault, domestic violence, kidnapping, narcotics, robbery, arson, and homicide cases. She collected several awards while at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, including the Prosecutor of the Month.
Kimberly was re-hired by Hallinan in 2000, in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, where she worked as an Assistant District Attorney for four years. While Assistant D.A., Guilfoyle got a conviction while co-prosecuting with James Hammer in the 2002 case People v.
