Juicy Beats: Glowing Hearts and Faces at Power Club
Updated On: 28 July 2018
DORTMUND. As a hit for the Juicy Beats Headliner Kraftklub has proven. Fans and band give full throttle despite scorching heat in Westfalenpark.
On days like these memories are created. To a feltly endless summer with balmy evenings and dancing nights. The Juicy Beats Festival plays the soundtrack on this Friday evening, and tens of thousands of visitors celebrate in Dortmund’s Westfalenpark.
With Kraftklub as Headliner the organizer landed thereby a direct hit. For one and a half hours, the musicians from Chemnitz are going full throttle, knocking out between the setting sun and Florianturm hits of their latest album “No Night For No One” and concert-proven classics.
In spite of the heat, the audience stirs with astonishingly agile agitation, whirling dust with glowing hearts and faces in front of the stage at Circle Pits and Pogo, throwing up hands, balls and cups. For “Randale” lets singer Felix Brummer squat the crowd in order to then relax on his starting shot together.
Free water for overheated fans
So that the fans do not overheat with so much movement, employees of the Juicy Beats tirelessly distribute water cups in the audience. Heated bodies and dusty sweaty faces are cooled down with spray mist. “It’s just too hot,” says Felix Brummer to the point. “I’m surprised you’re all still standing.”
Only the appearance of Boys Noize, who is on a smaller stage almost at the same time, has to suffer from the headliner of the evening. It was only a few years ago that he let the masses celebrate himself on the main stage. But this evening, the electro-DJ – completely wrongly – in lighter rows hang up. Meanwhile, Felix Brummer remembers a power club appearance in front of just a few hundred fans.
SXTN will meet an enthusiastic audience in the early evening on the big festival meadow. Hardly anyone should verbally beat as charming under the belt as the two rappers from Berlin. Most of the provocative lyrics are not quotable, but that’s probably why they hit the nerve of the fans.
Glitter tattoos, organic cuts and curling irons
It is noteworthy – and not only in the case of Juicy Beats – how important the supporting program far away from stages and dance floors is. Only music, that does not seem enough to many festival guests. And so colorful ribbons are braided in hairstyles, delicate curls turned up, glitter tattoos glued, visitors can jump into the ball pool, be for animals and against Nazis, buy nibbling animals and organic raspberry fruit slices.
Sponsors have long recognized that they receive the precious attention of their mostly young fans here. And they then gratefully share what they’ve experienced through their social channels.
Capturing your own festival visit in image and sound image-enhancing is obviously very important to many guests here. Diligent is posing with glitter on the cheeks and flower wreath in the hair in front of the stages. The scenery resembles in scorching heat anyway almost the huge Coachella festival under Californian sun. As soon as a band enters the stage, the smartphones are flashed, dozens of videos are shot that nobody will ever look at again. It would certainly be worthwhile for some visitors to enjoy a little more what the festival is all about: the music.
