Kurt started preparing for the 1996 Summer Olympics after his graduation from college. He trained for more than ten hours daily. One of his colleagues was murdered by the sponsor of the Olympic prospective, John Eluthere du Pont, as a result, he feared and gave up on the team and started finding another sponsor.
Angle joined a wrestling club known as Dave Schultz in memory of his colleague Schultz. He faced more challenges as during training he suffered an intense severe injury, destroying his cervical bones in 1996 Olympic Trials.
Through Olympics, Kurt competed successfully while recovering from his neck injury. Angle still had an interest in wrestling as he declared that he wanted to join the April 2011 Olympics that were based in London.
