LeBron James Biography

LeBron James born LeBron Raymone James, is an American professional basketball forward player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is regarded as the best basketball player in the world and as the greatest player of all time by some. This is because he has four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, three NBA Finals MVP Awards, two Olympic gold medals, three All-Star Game MVP awards, and an NBA scoring title. 

James played Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball for the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars as a youth. Led by James and his friends Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, and Willie McGee, the team enjoyed success on a local and national level. The four were inseparable and dubbed themselves the “Fab Four”,  and promised each other that they would attend high school together. This led them to choose to attend St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, a predominately white private Catholic school. This move stirred local controversy.

Prior to the start of his junior year, LeBron appeared in SLAM Magazine and was lauded as possibly “the best high school basketball player in America right now” by writer Ryan Jones. He also appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated during the season. This made him the first high school basketball underclassman to do so.

Together with the Fighting Irish, James traveled around the country to play a number of nationally ranked teams, including a game against Oak Hill Academy that was nationally televised on ESPN2, all these in his senior year. Time Warner Cable, looking to capitalize on James’ popularity, offered St. Vincent-St. Mary’s games to subscribers on a pay-per-view basis throughout the season.

He participated in three year-end high school basketball all-star games—the EA Sports Roundball Classic, the Jordan Capital Classic, and the McDonald’s All-American Game—losing his National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility and making it official that he would enter the 2003 NBA draft. Many basketball analysts, scouts, and writers have noted that James left high school as one of the best and most hyped prospects of all-time.

Lebron’s newest shoes with Nike are the Lebron 16. Nike unveiled the shoes in early September 2018. The kicks feature an improved knit makeup for increased lateral support, among other enhancements.

“The LeBron 16 introduces Battler knit 2.0, an evolved version of the scalloped knit featured on the Lebron 15,” Nike announced in a press release. “Its structure increases tensile strength (important to contain James’s lateral force on court) and it has an elegant finish matching James’s current style.

It also has a lower collar than the LeBron 15’s, which will allow an athlete to move around more freely.

“The first thing we wanted to do was get a little lower in the cut of the shoe,” James in the release. “I wanted to get a little faster, ride a little bit closer to the court and be a little bit more dynamic.”
