Durk pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated unauthorized use of a weapon, according to court records.
He was arrested with a loaded 50 caliber in 2013 on early Wednesday morning after he threw the gun into a vehicle and locking it afterward. Chicago Police gained a warrant to search the vehicle, found the loaded handgun, and arrested the rapper without incident.
His cousin, rapper McArthur “OTF NuNu” Swindle was murdered on May 31, 2014. Later, On March 27, 2015, Uchenna “OTF Chino Dolla” Agina, Durk’s friend, and the manager were also shot dead.

Durk started his first breakthrough in social media channels like Myspace and YouTube. He started taking music seriously in 2011. Durk considered rapping as a “full-time career” after plans to sigh with Chief Keef and French Montana’s fell through. He released his third mixtape, Life Ain’t Joke on October 19, 2012. The mixtape has been downloaded over 216, 000 times on DatPiff as of September 22, 2015. Durk released the track called “L’s Anthem” in December 2012. “L’s Anthem” was remixed and it featured French Montana, as a re-release.
Durk later accepted a Joint Venture deal with his collective Only the Family a Def Jam Recordings. His fourth mixtape, Signed to the Streets, was released on October 14, 2013. This was after a few delays. In an interview with XXL, on October 22, 2013, Durk said that he was working on his debut album Def Jam. Nonetheless, he was named part of the 2014 XXL Freshmen Class. He released his fifth mixtape, the sequel to signed to the streets on July 7, 2014.
In 2016, he was known for his albums, Remember My Name and Lil Durk 2X. He announced the title oh is debut studio album Remember My Name on March 23, 2015. Its release was on May 12.
