Lindiwe’s political career started when she wrote her honors dissertation on Helen Zille at the time, Helen took over the leadership od DA(Democratic Alliance) from Tony Leon. She spent a lot of her precious time to research on Helen’s tenure as mayor of Cape Town and Democratic Alliance leader. Lindiwe found them to be very much in agreement and in contact with her ideologies and political vision of South Africa.
Just after graduating, Lindiwe took up a post in the Democratic Alliance as the party’s media liaison officer in Parliament. Mazibuko was labeled by Democratic Alliance part leader, Helen, as a Star Performer. In the 20009 general elections, Lindiwe became a parliamentary candidate. Mazibuko appeared third on the Democratic Alliance’s KwaZulu-Natal list. She qualified for a seat in Parliament as the Democratic Alliance retained its status as the official opposition.
