Liv Ullmann Biography

Liv Ullmann, in full names Liv Johanne Ullmann born on December 16, 1939, Tokyo, Japan, Norwegian actress known for her natural beauty and intelligent and complex performances. Her name is closely linked to that of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, with whom she worked for in several films.

She attended Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, London, England. She became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF in 1980. In 1995, directed Kristin Lavransdatter, based on Sigrid Undset’s 1928 Nobel Prize-winning novel; it became the most successful Norwegian movie ever at that time.

Liv  was brought up in Norway, where she was named a Knight in the Order of St. Olav in 1975, was later promoted to Commander in that order in 1994, then promoted again to Commander With a Star in 2005, an honor rarely bestowed on civilians.

Liv Ullmann Persona

Persona is a 1966 black and white Swedish film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman and starring Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann. Persona’s story revolves around a young nurse named Alma and her patient, a well-known stage actress named Elisabet Vogler, who has suddenly ceased to speak. Persona has been labelled a psychological drama and modernist horror and was subject to cuts due to the film’s controversial subject matter. It is the sixth collaboration between influential cinematographer Sven Nykvist and director Ingmar Bergman and features their trademark minimalism.
