Alex Caruso fires back at internet troll calling Lonzo Ball ‘trash’
By: Christian Rivas | 6 Nov 2018
Alex Caruso hasn’t seen time with the Los Angeles Lakers since the regular season started, but he still defends his Lakers teammates when the situation calls for it.
Lakers Redditor u/twistedshadow got a screen grab of Caruso replying to someone calling Ball trash on Instagram even though the comment was flattering to Caruso.
Caruso is entering the second year of a two-way contract he signed with the Lakers last summer. The 24-year-old appeared in 37 games for the Lakers last year and even started seven games.
In those 37 games, Caruso averaged 3.6 points on 43.1 percent shooting from the field to go along with 1.8 rebounds and 2 assists.
While the team is a lot different than it was last year, Caruso told Lonzo Wire that he still thinks he’s a great fit with the Lakers at the South Bay Lakers’ Media Day last week.
“I think I have a lot of the same qualities Rondo and Zo have,” Caruso said. “They might be different from a talent aspect or other things that the coaches see, but I think I’m an unselfish point guard that makes plays for others. I think that’s probably Rondo and Lonzo’s best quality is that they set up their teammates and find them when they need to find them.”
In his regular season debut for the South Bay Lakers, Caruso put up 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.
While his opportunities with the first team will be limited this season because of the abundance of playmakers the Lakers have on their roster this season, it’s clear he believes he can make an impact when his time comes.
Lonzo Ball Injury
Lonzo Ball continues to miss time as he recovers from his ankle sprain. The Lakers continue to lack energy on the defensive end without him, as they’ve mentioned his absence being one of the main reasons for their current defensive slump.
It’s unclear when he will be back for the team, but we’ll provide updates when available.
The Lakers will next clash against the New Orleans Pelicans for the rights to Anthony Davis this Saturday, March 1.
