Career
After completing high school, Robey journeyed to Aix-en-Provence, where French photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue discovered her sunbathing at a hotel pool. Captivated, he photographed her for Paris Match and Vogue Paris, paving the way for her modeling career in Paris.
Robey began her music career, busking on the streets and fronting the ska-punk band Louise and the Creeps, signed to CBS France and the UK. Moving to New York City in the early 1980s, she excelled as a catwalk model, earning $5,000 a day and featuring in prominent advertising campaigns.
While Louise and the Creeps disbanded before recording an album, Robey secured a solo record deal with CBS/Sony in 1984, releasing a self-titled album. Her cover of “One Night in Bangkok” from the musical Chess became an international hit in 1985.
