Mare started off her career with sing and write songs in 1976 and 1977. She got a had a chance to sing on The Gong Show. She later bagged an acting contract with Meyer Mishkin and was asked to say three lines in James at 15. 1978.
She as well starred in the short-lived drama called The Young Pioneers. She then started getting more acting roles on TV. In 1985 she was featured in St Elmo’s fire that she started to get noticed.
