She is widely known for her roles in The Vampire Diaries as Elizabeth Forbes (2009–2017) and in the 1994 Seinfeld episode “The Chaperone” as Miss Rhode Island. She has also made appearances in a number of regional theatre productions, Fahrenheit 451 at the Falcon Theatre and South Pacific at Goodspeed among others.
Macintyre starred in The Vampire Diaries as Sheriff Forbes until season six. She has also made appearances in Broadway productions of Jane Eyre, Weird Romance, City of Angels, No Way to Treat a Lady, Annie Warbucksand Mata Hari.
