He played rugby for the U.S. military team The Berlin Yanks Rugby Football Club while serving in Berlin and also served in the military during the Gulf War. He obtained his first role, on The Innocent in 1993 while still serving in the U.S. Army in Germany. He also got the role of “Father Pete” on Another World in the same year. He took over the role of Jack Deveraux from 1994–1997 on the NBC Daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives and in 2003, Valley portrayed Detective Eddie Arlette, an American police officer in London, on the short-lived Keen Eddie.
He took the role of Brad Chase on Boston Legal, a spinoff of the television series The Practice. Valley also appeared on the television series ER as Abby Lockhart’s ex-husband, Richard Lockhart. He also appeared in Fringe which he is famously known for in 2008 as FBI agent John Scott. Valley also starred in Fox’s drama Human Target and in 2012, he joined the cast of ABC’s Body of Proof. He played Det. Tommy Sullivan, Dana Delany’s love interest and in 2001 he co-starred alongside Delany in her short-lived series Pasadena.

Valley gets to portray Christopher Chance a security guard in this drama series. He’s the man hired when all else fails and normal means of protection are simply not enough. His main mission is to protect his clients at all costs. He becomes, in effect, a human target just to protect his client until the threat has been eliminated. With the help of his business partner, Winston, and hired gun Guerrero, Chance races against time to save his client and unravel the truth behind each job they take on.
