Mays began her career in May 2012 as an intern meteorologist at WSB-TV in her hometown in Georgia. She later joined KXXV-TV/KRHD-TV in Oct 2012 as a morning meteorologist in Waco, Texas. She worked there for one year and ten months giving the people of Waco weather updates during the weekday morning and midday hour until July 2014. Mary then moved to WJCL ABC where she has been working as a freelance journalist since Aug 2017.
