Matt Groening is an American cartoonist, writer, producer, animator, and voice actor creator of the comic strip Life in Hell, Futurama, Disenchantment and The Simpsons being the longest-running U.S. primetime-television series in history and the longest-running U.S. animated series and sitcom.

Homer, born in Main Centre, Saskatchewan, Canada, grew up in a Mennonite, Plautdietsch-speaking family.
