Back then she was 22 years old, scared, clad in rain gear, and she had relatively little experience. The coverage included live traffic evacuation shots in wall-to-wall coverage.
The hurricane would go on to miss her hometown of Charleston, however, it did launch her career in the process. Subsequently, the NBC station offered her a morning show and she has been in TV news ever since. Meredith has been reporting news for NBC in the evening segment for six years.
