Mia St. John, born Mia Rosales St. John is a professional boxer from the United States. She is the former World Boxing Council(WBC) champion in the super welterweight division.
She is the current IBA and IFBA lightweight champion. In addition, she is a businesswoman, model and taekwondo champion.

Her professional boxing career began at the age of 29. Her first match was on the 14th of February in 1997 against Angelica Villain. She bested Villain in 54 seconds of the first round via knock out. This earned her the nickname ‘The Knockout’.
Her first managers were the Lovett brothers(Art and Stewart). Later on, she signed under controversial boxing promoter, Don King. She went on to sign under Top Rank Boxing. Between 1997 and 1999, she had 23 fights, she had won 22 of the fights and had one draw. In the 23 fights, 3 were ended by way of KO while 9 were by way of TKO. All of her fights during this time would end in the fourth round. She was given the title ‘Queen of the Four-Rounders’. She later said she hated the title.
She was involved in a skiing accident that threatened to take one of her legs by way of amputation. She was involved in two operations to remove a blood clot.
She was called ‘Bunny Boxer’ after she appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine. This was in November of 1999.
In 2001, she did not renew her contract with Top Rank. She opted to become her own manager and promoter. Her first fight was on the 9th of November in 2001. She was up against Rolanda Andrews whom she lost to by way of TKO in the second round. This was her first fight since leaving the Top Rank camp.
She underwent training from Eduardo and Roberto Garcia. This was in an effort to learn proper footwork, defensive strategies, and punching techniques. The training paid dividends as she went on to win her next four bouts, winning one by way of TKO.
She fought former world champion boxer, Christy Martin on the 6th of December in 2002. Many credited her as the underdog in the fight. Some even went on to say that the knockout from Christy would come early. Mia lost the fight but she lasted all ten rounds, fighting toe-to-toe with Christy.
After 9 years and a total of 47 professional fights, she was given a title fight. This was against Liz Drew on the 12th of June in 2005. She won via unanimous decision and earned the International Female Boxers Association lightweight world title. The win was followed by another, this time against Donna Biggers. She won via unanimous decision in August and won the IBA lightweight title. She recorded this win in China.
She went on to fight in her mother’s home country, Mexico. This was on the 14th of June in 2008, the fight earned her the WBC international boxing champion title at the age of 40. She had fulfilled her dream of fighting in Mexico in spectacular fashion.
She fought Christy Martin in a rematch on the 14th of August in 2012. She fulfilled her sixteen-year-old dream by becoming the WBC super welterweight champion of the world. She was 45 years old at the time.
She was defeated and lost her WBC super welterweight championship to Tiffany Junot. This was on the 10th of November in 2012. She lost the match and title via unanimous decision.
She played her last match on the 14th of April in 2015. She won by TKO in the fourth round.
MMA.
She competed in her first mixed martial arts contest on the 26th of January in 2008. The contest was in Honolulu, Hawaii against Rhonda Gallegos. She won the fight with a first-round knockout over Rhonda.

Mia St. John Mental Health Advocacy
She joined Representative Grace Napolitano and former LA Laker Ron Artest for official mental health and suicide prevention training in Santa Fe. The three have joined forces to promote the Mental Health in Schools Act. This was in November of 2010.
She spoke at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. In addition to Congress, She speaks in juvenile centers and schools on the importance of education and overcoming of hardship. She speaks of her own struggles and battles with mental illness, poverty, and addiction. She is a testament to overcoming hardship and becoming a three-time international boxing champion.

She admitted, in August of 2018, to doping by use of banned substances like steroids and masking agents. This was done in preparation of upcoming 20 round bouts. She claimed that everyone did it and everyone in boxing knew it.
