Michael Bloomberg is an American businessman, politician, author, and philanthropist. He is the 9th richest person in the United States and the 14th richest person in the world as of 2019. Bloomberg has joined The Giving Pledge, whereby billionaires pledge to give away at least half of their wealth.

Michael has worked has the 108th Mayor of New York City, holding office for three consecutive terms, beginning with his first election in 2001. A Democrat before looking for an elective office, he switched his party registration in 2001 to run for mayor as a Republican.

Michael in a close election held just weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks he defeated opponent Mark Green. He was the winner in the second term in 2005 and left the Republican Party two years later. Michael campaigned to change the city’s term limits law, and in 2009 was elected to his third term as an Independent candidate on the Republican ballot line.

Bloomberg was often mentioned as a candidate with moderate political views for the United State Presidential elections in 2008, and 2012, as well as for Governor of New York in 2010. He failed to seek either office, opting to continue serving as the Mayor of New York City.

Bill De Blasio on January 1, 2014, he succeeded Bloomberg as the Mayor of New York City. Om March 4, 2020, Bloomberg dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Joseph R. Biden Jr. Mr. Bloomberg signaled in his concession speech that he intended to keep using his multibillion-dollar fortune against President Trump.

April 24, 2007, Michael made a statement during a press conference at Mexico City’s City Hall. After making announcements in English, the then-mayor offered a short message in Spanish. like many other New Yorkers,  the mayor had a heavy American accent.
