Mike was arrested and charged with tax evasion together with his brother Mac in 2018. Mac was aligned and sentenced to two years in jail and Mike served eight months behind the bars. They were first charged in court in September 2014 with tax fraud and according to the US attorney, the two brothers established S corporations that paid for personal expenses and didn’t apply for taxation.
In April 2017, further charges were levied against Sorrentino and his brother, alleging tax evasion and the structuring of bank deposits to avoid reporting thresholds. Mike pleaded guilty on January 19, 2018, to one of tax evasion as part of prosecutors’ bargain.
He was then sentenced to eight months in jail on 5th October 2018 with two years of supervised probation which was to begin immediately after his release and was ordered to undergo 500 hours of community service.
Judge Susan Wigenton released an order on 22nd, October 2018 to extend the dates for Mike to surrender to the Federal Bureau of prisons before January 15, 2019. The Federal Bureau prisons decided that Mike would serve his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville, New York as a prisoner number 66910050.
