She joined the WAAY 31 news team in February 2018 as the morning and midday news anchor and was promoted to the evening anchor position a year later. In addition to anchoring the evening news, Najahe also reports for WAAY 31. Sherman covered the 2019 historic flooding in north Alabama, reporting from some of the most severely affected areas in the region. She also investigates and reports problems of domestic violence in north Alabama as well as mental health issues in our judicial system. Prior to joining the WAAY 31 news team, Najahe worked at WKRN News 2, the ABC affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee as both a news anchor and reporter for several years. She has worked as a news anchor, reporter and multimedia journalist in Missouri, Louisiana, Wyoming, and Iowa.Najahe Sherman Other Activities
She is an active community volunteer and I enjoy volunteering with various non-profit organizations. She is currently involved with the Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC) Foundation serving as the emcee for the 19th annual “Women Honoring Women” gala in Huntsville. The WEDC Foundation assists women in need of financial assistance, professional development, and provides mentoring to women who are economically disadvantaged. Najahe has also served as a youth mentor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization and volunteered at Boys and Girls Clubs in Louisiana. In 2015, She was featured as one of “Nashville’s 25 Most Beautiful People” by Nashville Lifestyles Magazine, with Jake Owen, country music artist and television personalities Kellie Pickler and Chris Carmack, of the television series, Nashville. Najahe’s married life is equally fruitful. The LA-based TV star is living her happily-ever-after with her husband, Micah Charyn. Najahe and her other half are also the proudest parents of their sweet baby girl, Micalah and two Yorkshire Terriers. The pair announced the arrival of their little bundle of joy merrily on 8 September 2014.
Furthermore, despite being their first time of parenting the baby, they have done a fantastic job. On 2 October 2017, together, the father-mother duo planned a Minnie and Mickey Mouse themed birthday party for their 3-year-old munchkin. Baby Micalah’s grand-mother designed and sewed costumes for all her friends to make the occasion even more memorable.
Micah is also a wonderful father to his daughter and often pampers his wife with surprises and unanticipated bouquets waiting for her when she returns home after her hectic day.
