According to the Buffalo News, WIVB anchor-reporter Shapiro is following her boyfriend, WGRZ sports anchor-reporter Jonah Javad to Texas.
“We’re sorry to see her go and we wish her well. She’s done a great job for this station,” said WIVB general manager Dominic Mancuso in a statement to the paper.
Javad announced he was leaving the NBC affiliate in December. Shapiro as of 2019 anchors the station’s 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. shows. She joined the station eight years ago. There is no word on when her last day will be. Javad will remain at the Tegna-owned station through the Winter Olympics.
