Nhlanhla Nciza is a South African musician well known for being part of popular musical group Mafikizolo alongside Theo Kgosinkwe and Tebogo Madingoane. She is also a fashion icon who has inspired women with her African prints clothes.
Nhlanhla Nciza Mafikizolo
Nciza came into the limelight in 1997 after her group Mafikizolo became popular. The kwaito group consisted of Nciza, Tebogo Madingoane, and Theo Kgosinkwe. The group released their first album in 1999 called Music Revolution and the next one in 2000 called Gate Crashers.
The group then lost one of their members, Tebogo, in a fatal accident on the 14th of February 2004. Mafikizolo then continued to release songs like Kwela, and an album, Six Mabone, The Best before taking a break in 2009.
They resumed to music in 2013 with an album Reunited which had their hit single Khona featuring Uhuru. The album led to them winning 12 SAMAs in one night including other nominations. Their next album, 20, was released in 2017 to celebrate their 20 years in the music industry. The album featured the hit song Love Portion.
The group has thrice won the South African Music Award for Group or Duo of the Year. Nhlanhla has been recording and performing solo after releasing two albums, Inguquko (Change) and Lingcinga Zam (My Thoughts).

Singer Nhlanhla Nciza and music producer TK Nciza have parted ways.
The couple, who have been married for over 15 years, have now decided to go their separate ways. In a lengthy Instagram post, which featured snaps of Nhlanhla and her soon-to-be ex-husband TK, whose full name is Thembinkosi, Nhlanhla thanked him for the “support” they had “given each other over the years” while raising their children.
“We shall remain on good terms and continue our endeavour to be great and exemplary parents to our children,” the 41-year-old captioned her post.
“We appreciate the support we’ve received from family and friends. At this stage we would like to appeal for privacy, particularly for the sake of our children.”
The pair who have three sons together, haven’t disclosed the reasons behind their “tough but amicable decision” to bring their union to an end.

Tell us a bit about yourself, your background and humble beginnings.
I was born in the Northern Province at a small town called Schweitzereneker and my parents moved to Kagiso in Krugersdorp when I was a year old and that’s where I grew up. I’m the first born and the only girl with 3 little brothers.
What is Nhlanhla Nciza the brand all about?
I’m all about music and fashion simply because that’s what I’m passionate about. I’m also passionate about giving young people a chance and giving them a platform in both industries.
How do you find the balance in your life between being a wife, mother, singer and fashion designer?
It’s the most difficult thing to do, but it really helps having a supportive partner. I work with a schedule and that helps with balancing everything but like my mom its family first, career second, everything else third, and God above everything else.
Which values did you grow up with that you swear and live by to this day?
To respect my self and other people and to always be humble.
What keeps you grounded?
My family, always.
Where do you get inspiration for your songs and designs?
I’m inspired by African people and our stories good or bad, our challenges and our triumphs. I’m also inspired 80% by my community and 20% by the rest of the world.
How do you keep things fresh and exciting as a wife to your husband and a mother to your children?
Date nights are the best as my husband is just as busy as I am. As far as my children are concerned, I try and be involved as much as I can with their activities in school and at home. Our favourite time is going to the movies.
Who is your role-model and mentor?
Oh my! They are so many. My mom is number 1 on the list though. I love sis Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Bassie Kumalo, Zama Mkosi, and Precious Motsepe to mention a few.
How do you keep in shape and on top of your game?
Heathy lifestyle, eating a well-balanced diet and regular exercise whenever I can. But rehearsing and performing with Mafikizolo keeps me fit as well
What message would you give to young people who aspire to follow in your footsteps?
Follow your dreams and whatever career path you choose love it and have passion for it. Put God first in everything you do.
