At the age of 17, Oliver noticed his passion for tattooing and began focusing on it. He began tattooing professionally in 1991, 1t the age of 19. The first season of Ink Master premiered in January 2012, with Peck, Dave Navarro, and Chris Nunez as judges. He went on with the season till the 13th season. During the 13th season, his photos of blackface circulated on the internet after gossip site TMZ published them. One of his photos showed Oliver wearing “brown face paint, an Afro wig and a superhero costume with the letter “N” on it.”
