Dilena rose to fame as the third senior pastor of Times Square Church since its founding by David Wilkerson in 1987. Dilena’s father, Paul Dilena, was the police captain in David Wilkerson’s bestselling book The Cross and the Switchblade and was the treasurer of the first Teen Challenge. Before the senior pastorate, Dilena had been a regular and well-loved speaker at Times Square Church for more than 25 years.

In 1984 he repositioned to Detroit at the request of Gary Wilkerson, who was beginning a church and needed temporary assistance. Yet, he stayed in Detroit to begin Revival Tabernacle in a one-time 900-seat XXX film theater. The church became an international house of worship, multi-cultural, and multi-ethnic, that is still flourishing today.

In the year 2010, Dilena was invited by Jim Cymbala to enter The Brooklyn Tabernacle as associate pastor. After serving for five years in Brooklyn, he entered our Savior’s Church in Lafayette, Louisiana as lead pastor, before returning to New York City in May 2020 to serve at Times Square Church.
