Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed is a hilarious, thought-provoking, and surprising new book that takes us behind the scenes of a therapist’s world–where her patients are looking for answers (and so is she).
In Gottlieb’s new book, Maybe You Should Talk to somebody, she discusses a youthful love bird determined to have a terminal sickness. Her primary care physicians think she’ll be fine, it’s a truly treatable type of malignant growth, and after medical procedure and chemotherapy, she is. Be that as it may, at that point, a half year later, on a standard output they find an uncommon, forceful type of malignancy, and they reveal to her she has just a couple of years to live.
“Will you remain with me until I kick the bucket?” she inquires. It was such a significant encounter, looking at death without flinching with her in the way we typically don’t, and it caused me to think about my own mortality in another manner, a more beneficial way.
In 2010 Gottlieb published the book, Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough. The book which is categorized as a Self-help book talks about how Gottlieb, 37, made the decision to become a single parent after years of searching for Mr. Right.
Four years later, when she still hadn’t found him, she decided to take a good look at her eating habits—and the dating habits of women around her—to see if the problem is not a dearth of good men but rather women’s expectations of them.
Gottlieb finds that women want it all—and often aren’t willing to compromise on the list of traits their ideal mate must-have. In their twenties, many women leave good relationships based on an elusive feeling that they could find something more with someone else, and they regret it down the road when their choices dwindle. It’s not that women aren’t willing to settle; it’s that many refuse to recognize that their vision of the perfect man doesn’t match reality.
With the help of dating coach Evan Marc Katz, Gottlieb reconsidered her own standards in the hope of finding happiness. Gottlieb’s honest, astute analysis will resonate with many women and make them uneasy as they recognize themselves in her experiences and those of the women she interviews. Gottlieb makes a strong case in this groundbreaking work.
In this book published in 2000, Gottlieb writes a diary-style biography of a woman’s coming-of-age in 1970s Beverly Hills and describes a world in which she learned that “no one could ever like a girl with thunder thighs,” and watched her life crumble as she developed a fierce reluctance to eat–winding up in the hospital when her “diet” took over her life.
