Dan Quinn born Daniel Patrick Quinn is an American football coach who is the current head coach and defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks from 2013 to 2014. This defense led the team to two consecutive Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl XLVIII.
Daniel Patrick Quinn was born in Morristown, New Jersey on 11th September 1970. As of 2018, he is 48 years of age.
Quinn was born in Morristown, New Jersey, and grew up in nearby Morris Township. He played high school football at Morristown High School in Morristown, from which he graduated in 1989. He attended Salisbury State University (now Salisbury University), an NCAA Division III school. While there, he played on its football team as a defensive lineman from 1990 to 1993.
He was a four-year starter in football and track and field and was named All Mason-Dixon in 1994 for his record-breaking hammer throw (168.8 feet). Was representing Salisbury State in the NCAA track championships that year as well. Dan was a two-time football team captain and captained the track and field team in 1994. After the 1993 football season, he was co-awarded the prestigious Bobby Richards award. Quinn was inducted in the Salisbury University athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.

Quinn began his collegiate coaching career with the William & Mary Tribe football team in 1994 and at Virginia Military Institute in 1995, working with their defensive lines.
Quinn started his NFL instructing profession in San Francisco as their protective quality control mentor in 2001. He went through six years training the cautious lines for the San Francisco 49ers (2003–2004), the Miami Dolphins (2005–2006), and the New York Jets (2007–08).

Named the 16th head coach in Falcon’s history in February of 2015. In his first three seasons, he has compiled a 29-19 regular-season record with two postseason appearances, leading the club to an NFC title and its second Super Bowl appearance in 2016. In five playoff games, Quinn is 3-2 with the Falcons. Atlanta was the only NFC team to return to the playoffs in 2017 for the second consecutive year.
Dimitroff joined the Falcons in 2008 and helped orchestrate the most successful run in franchise history, including five consecutive winning seasons from 2008-12 and three straight playoff berths – a first in franchise history. A two-time Executive of the Year honoree by The Sporting News in 2008 and 2010, Dimitroff brought with him a team-building philosophy that centered around building the core of the roster through the draft and supplementing with key additions through free agency.
Since they began working together a little more than three years ago, Dimitroff’s philosophy on building through the draft and Quinn’s clear vision of the type of players needed for his team have helped the Falcons create one of the NFL’s best rosters. Dimitroff and Quinn have crafted a roster focused on fast and physical athletes, and they’ve incorporated a system to develop younger players into impactful assets to the team.
