Jay Severin was an American political talk radio personality. Severin has worked at WTKK-FM, at Boston’s WXKS-AM Talk 1200 in 2011 and 2012 as an afternoon talk host and at The Blaze Radio Network.
Severin worked as a political consultant for David Garth in New York City. Severin began Severin Aviles Associates in 1979 to direct Republican candidates ‘ approach and media, including campaigns for the U.S. House. U.S. Senate, Governor, and President (George H.W. Bush and Pat Buchanan’s 1996 Presidential campaign.
Severin started working for Gene Burns in October 1994 as a talk show host on WOR and worked there during the afternoon drive time slot until June 1996 when he was replaced by Bob Grant. Severin accepted a late-night talk show position on WRKO that lasted from April to July 1999.
Severin started hosting an afternoon talk show on WTKK in early 1999. In September 2005, CBS Radio announced that Severin would host a show for select Infinity Broadcasting stations called “Jay Severin Has Issues.” After nine months of syndication, Severin returned to WTKK on 9 October 2006.

On 25 April 2004, Severin said his comments were aimed at terrorists, not Muslims in particular, and said, “I definitely regret any pain that may have been created by a misunderstanding of my remarks.” The Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) unsuccessfully requested the dismissal of Severin.
On April 30, 2009, Severin said Mexicans were “the lowest of primitives in the world” and said, “His millions of leeches from a primitive country come here to leech you and, with it, ruin the schools, hospitals, and a lot of life in America.” Severin was suspended until June 3, 2009, when he apologized by saying (in part) “My remarks were harmful, unkind, and wrong.

Greater Media said, “Severin has been let go because he has not maintained an adequate level of civility and has adhered to a standard that respects our listeners and the general public.
On August 18, 2011, Severin returned to the Boston-area radio station on WXKS Talk1200 AM, which had transformed from a Spanish-speaking station to conservative talk. He continued to comment on politics and current events but avoided controversies such as those on WTKK in the years.
On August 7, 2012, Severin was dropped from the schedule as part of the format change to Comedy 1200 that took place on August 13. The move also impacted Jeff Katz, a morning talk host, as well as Rush Limbaugh, a nationally syndicated host who returned to WRKO.
